Hiivr Rail is the exciting name Arc Infrastructure has given the autonomous wagon and its real-world application in the Western Australian context, after more than three years of development.
Designed with the future Westport in mind, the Hiivr Rail concept would see containers move directly from a vessel to a future network of intermodal freight terminals and be available to customers within hours of being unloaded from the vessel.
Hiivr Rail’s autonomous wagon leverages self-driving technology that is already being used all over the world and tailors it to the rail environment for Westport.
The autonomous wagon includes technology which connects to logistics systems, providing safe, autonomous operations with real-time visibility of container movements.
Hiivr Rail is 100% owned by Arc Infrastructure, leveraging their experience operating the freight rail network in WA. To learn more about Arc Infrastructure click here.
Our Hiivr Rail team are developing a solution which will allow the wagon to integrate directly with Arc Infrastructure’s existing train control system.
Hiivr Rail continues to work with the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) to receive an accreditation to allow mainline trials.
The Hiivr Rail team is also investigating other early commercial opportunities in Australia, ahead of the future Westport.
